Best way to survive a street fight. Avoid a street fight.

Alrekrdwarf I can see both sides of an argument. I’m in California, so our self defense laws probably would be similar to yours in the cities like Los Angeles or San Francisco. I live in a heavily agricultural area of the state, so while it’s not quite Texas, the law around here definitely is more inclined to give you leeway in self defense. I’ve seen many street fights around here that start off 1 on 1 but end up a a jumping, or someone pulls a weapon. I’m not in the best shape, so I go out of my way ...

The moral of the story, practice sprinting.I like the part of changing the mentality from being a victim of an attack to going on the attack yourself. Maybe easier said than done if the person is a lot bigger or stronger than you though.

Simple is always best. I'm trained in Aikido and Jujitsu, as well as chunks of others. I have to restrain people at work often and have been attacked many times. I'm 5'6" 180lbs and simple is always best. I cannot strike, but I do execute throws and pins. I always start simple and move to complex as they tire or are disoriented.I believe training should focus on mastery of the simple. Aikido is not like other martial arts. It takes a long time to master the complex. Hell it takes a ...

Doesn't matter what martial art you practice. I've been into "raw street fights" and "gang fights".. and trust me... no martial arts will save you. You don't know the opponent if he have a knife... a stick....a gun.... if his big brother is in the mafia ( I dealth with those before ), or if he got a pshycho killer cousin... or if he does pro boxing.. or pro judo... or pro anything... you don't know if he got a friend beside or near that will come behind you and stick his knife in yo...

+Jonathan Moore If you pulled it out its not an accident. If you pulled it its because your life was in danger period. You never shoot to kill, you always shoot to stop center mass and yes you try everything to avoid it. I'm no gun slinger but I am no victim either. Most guys I know who train never have had to do more then pull and show and maybe once in their life time. Just use good judgement.

Learnt origami a few years back, but i don't think that's going to help much, although saying that. Imagine he's coming at you or she for that matter and boom, you've just made yourself a doberman pinscher in seconds, that you can release on your attacker, job done. They've run off and no one gets hurt.
